CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR BHS SENIORS! Graduation is on Sunday June 6.
​Last day for all students is Tuesday June 22.
 
For students in Gr 9-11, quarter 4 IPR #2 (Interim Progress Reports) were uploaded to the student and parent portals this past Thursday 5/27. Teachers only included progress reports for students who are averaging a C (75%) or below in their course as of last Wed 5/26.
 
This June 1st week includes MCAS ELA testing for all 10th graders and only juniors who signed up for MCAS to qualify for MA state Koplik scholarships. 9th graders will have classes. Gr 11 students not taking the MCAS to qualify for Koplik will NOT have classes this Wed 6/2 or Wed 6/9.

For the week of June 7, all 10th graders will take the Math MCAS on Wed June 9 AND all 9th graders will take the Science MCAS on that Wed 6/9 as well. Again, 11th graders taking the Math MCAS for Koplik qualification will test on Wed 6/9 also.

We have a relatively regular school schedule this May 24 school week. Wednesday will have blocks D,E,F,G blocks. See attached schedule.
No school Monday 5/31/21. Week of June 1 with MCAS Wednesday schedule also attached.

May is still Mental Health Awareness Month. Continued reminders and resources will be shared over this month. Some facts about anxiety concerns:

Anxiety is also rampant among America’s children and adolescents. Indeed, as the Psychiatric Times recently reported, “Anxiety disorders are the most common psychiatric condition in youth . . . with a median age of onset of 6 years.”
As a recent update on the Effective Solutions webpage discusses – “While anxiety might seem less detrimental than depression, these disorders can negatively affect academic performance, social engagement, and family functioning. And according to a report by the Child Mind Institute, ‘Anxiety is a gateway disorder that leads to increased risk of depression, school failure, substance abuse, and suicide.’”

​Q4 IPRs for Gr 9-11 students have been uploaded to the portals on Friday 5/7. Please be sure to check this information to help support students who need to finish the school year with a push AND to congratulate students who are consistently doing good work.
 
Note the special schedule for this school week of 5/10. This week’s Wednesday schedule for students is C2,D2, E2 blocks with classes ending at 12:15pm. Staff will have professional development time until 3pm on that day.
