URGENT….ALL STUDENTS ENTERING GR 10,11, 12 – If you have not requested your electives or health/ wellness classes for next school year 2019-20. Student discussions will be facilitated on the topic of “Truth about Vaping” to approximately 325 BHS students tomorrow 4/29 and to another 300+ students again on Monday 5/20 (rescheduled from 4/22) in Wellness and other classes. Thanks to the Caron Center and a Brookline community member for generously donating the funding for these important conversations offered by BHS Guidance and B-Pen!

CODEBREAKERS – Although not affiliated with Public Schools of Brookline, here is an interesting opportunity for BHS female students entering Gr 10 or 11 for the next school year –
Dates: July 8– August 2, 2019 (M-F from 9:00-3:00 pm). Grade Level: Female students entering 10th or 11th grade at a school in greater Boston area in fall 2019.  Deadline for applications: May 1st, 2019.
Codebreakers is a program for young women who are currently either freshmen or sophomores in high school and who are interested in learning about computer security. Undergraduate coordinators will teach participants about basic cybersecurity concepts through lessons in programming, cryptography, and network security. Students will learn to code in Python in order to later gain experience with programming games, ciphering, and looking at system vulnerabilities.
During the program participants also will investigate exciting careers by visiting a local facility and hearing guest speakers from state, local and federal agencies and professionals. Lunch is included each day. There is no tuition, but a nonrefundable registration fee of $100 is required of all participants. For more information and to apply, please visit www.bu.edu/lernet/cyber
