Happy half-way point! As we all know, quarter 2 is drawing to an end, so we thought we would do a recap of everything that’s been going on in Legislature and Student Council so far.
Primarily, we have been working on two bills: the Balanced Academics Bill and the Late Assignment Credit Bill. The Balanced Academics Bill intends to reduce student stress by implementing a limit on the number of AP and academic classes a student can take. The Late Work Bill hopes to give students motivation to turn in their work, even when late, by ensuring that students don’t lose too many points solely because of lateness. It is important to note that these bills are still under heavy discussion, which is why neither has been passed. If you have strong opinions or questions about the bills, please don’t hesitate to reach out to any member of Legislature (list here).
In addition to working on bills, Student Council has been working to increase the line of communication between the student body and their government. Keep an eye out for red or blue posters hanging up around the school- those come straight from student council, and have useful information. As bills pass and more projects come underway, updates will be posted on this blog, around the school as posters, and on our Instagram (@brooklinehigh)!
Have a great second half of the year!
