Our Program
Brookline High School offers both alpine skiing and nordic skiing during the winter season.
More information about Nordic Skiing:
The Brookline High School Nordic Ski Team offers an exciting opportunity to engage in a full-body sport where athletes power themselves across various terrain, including hills and flat ground. Our team focuses on developing essential skills like technique, race strategy, and nutrition, while building endurance and strength. Skiers learn the skate technique, which is similar to ice skating, and work on improving their cardiovascular fitness. No prior experience is needed to join the team—just bring a positive attitude and a willingness to work hard. Practices are held on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
We pride ourselves on being a small, close-knit team where athletes receive personalized coaching and form lasting friendships. Equipment rentals, including skate skis, boots, and poles, are available at affordable rates, and we are happy to assist anyone facing financial challenges. Practices begin after Thanksgiving with dryland training, transitioning to on-snow practices in December at Weston Ski Track, where we work on technique, strength, and agility.
Races take place on Wednesdays starting in January, and skiers can compete at the varsity or junior varsity level depending on their skills. We will teach you how to wax your skis, helping you get the most out of your equipment for top performance on race day. The season concludes with the Massachusetts State Championship for top varsity athletes. Join us to experience the thrill of Nordic skiing and be part of a supportive and skilled team!
