Student Council had a busy February! After welcoming a new freshman representative, Justin Kim, we spent a good deal of the month reviewing two important bills: the Equitable Grading Bill (which would standardize sections of the same course in terms of late work, revisions, the scope of midterm and final exams, and more) and the Lost Work Bill (which creates an organized system for how to proceed in the event that a student’s work is lost by their teacher). The former was also presented in front of Legislature and Faculty Council, and is scheduled for a vote next Wednesday, March 12. Student Council also had $300 in club funding that we did not allocate last spring; over the course of two meetings, we held a Shark Tank-style presentation in which over 20 clubs (including several new ones!) gave pitches for grants to help cover merchandise, conference and competition costs, and more. We encourage all clubs to apply for funding in the spring, as well! Last, StuCo has been working in our current committees to address various problems we’ve seen and heard around the school, from the Equitable Grading Committee to Advisory Reform and Financial Literacy Education Committee. In that spirit, if you have an issue you’d like us to tackle or any questions and concerns, feel free to email [email protected], [email protected], or [email protected].
