BHS College Counselor
Starting on Monday, September 17, we will host the College Visits. College Admissions Representatives will come to room 179 to talk to interested students. You can find the list by clicking on College Visits in Naviance (https://student.naviance.com/colleges/visits) or by visiting http://bhs.brookline.k12.ma.us/calendars.html
Here is what you need to do to attend the session: 1) Please register for the visit on Naviance at least a day in advance. 2) If you will be missing a class, take a green permission slip from room 161 (main guidance office) or room 279, and ask your teacher to sign it at least a day prior to the meeting. Bring the signed form to the session. We will collect it and give it to your Dean's Secretary. You do not need to do this if you are coming during a free block.
Note that these visits do count against your total allowed excused absences for the year (21 total). Please be mindful of that, and remember that doing well in your senior year classes is much more important than attending the college visit.
Please email me with any questions!

Welcome back from April Break!
Please update your Naviance account with your college/ post high school planning decisions!
"To the Editor: I wish I had realized sooner that where you go to college is not nearly as important as what you do when you get there. I think a lot of us seniors worried that we’d end up at a safety school without considering the benefits. If I could get a do-over, I would have looked at more schools where I could have been a big fish in a small pond and taken more leadership opportunities, instead of only focusing on a school’s pedigree. Excerpt from New York Times Op Ed 4/21/18 - College Admissions: Let's Stop the Stress! https://mobile.nytimes.com/2018/04/21/opinion/college-admissions.html
After the College Acceptance/ Paying the Bill Seminar: On Monday, April 9 at 7 pm in the Roberts Dubbs Auditorium, BHS Guidance will host a presenter from Massachusetts Educational Financing Authority (MEFA) who will provide critical information for seniors and their parents-caretakers about college financial aid award letters. This seminar is designed to help students and families examine and compare financial aid awards, calculate the balance due at each school, and develop a plan to pay the bill at your selected college or university.
