Massachusetts Breast Cancer Coalition’s first Against the Tide event for 2019 is coming up on June 15th in Hopkinton. They are reaching out to request students to volunteer and get involved in several great opportunities.
Volunteer opportunities include:
Against the Tide is held on June 15th at Hopkinton State Park and on August 17th in Brewster at Nickerson State Park. These inspiring events are great ways for students to become active members of their community and support a cause that impacts many Massachusetts families and beyond. MBCC is dedicated to preventing environmental causes of cancer through community education, research advocacy, and public policy changes. Students’ support as active volunteers and/or committee members will help change the impact of cancer on generations to come. If students are interested in volunteering at either event and/or becoming a committee member, they should email committee co-chair, Charles McGinn, at mbcc.charles@gmail.com and CC MBCC’s Executive Director, Cheryl Osimo, at cosimo@mbcc.org. This email should have the subject line “High School Student Interested in Volunteering with MBCC.” A short phone interview with Cheryl and Charles will also be required. Please visit http://mbcc.org/swim to find out more information about Against the Tide and MBCC, in general.
Volunteer opportunities include:
- Adopting a town near where they live and posting Against the Tide posters throughout the months leading up to the event
- Assisting with social media marketing
- Assisting with event set-up and/or take down the day before or day of the event
- Participating as a walking guide, run guide, swim guide, or paddleboard guide at the event
- Helping to hand out water to event participants
- And more!
